Caravan Raid
Rating:
Reward: x1 Dragon Tear of Your Choice (excluding the Celestial Tear)
Location: Anywhere
You are sneaking into a caravan at night for a raid. What you are there for is up to you, tasty food, materials, precious metals and stones, or just raiding for the fun of it.
As you slink along the outside looking for your prize you spot an apprentice's carelessly lost dragon tear laying underneath a wagon.
If there is a group, you spot an open bag lying on the ground with a tear laying just inside the opening of the bag.
Alone: How do you go about retrieving the tear? Do you sneak in or barge in blatantly and rely upon speed and strength to get you out?
Group: Do the rest of you go about stealing what you came about while one attempts to be a distraction and one goes to grab the bag of tears? Or do you all try sneaking?

Wearing the dragon totem he had found around his neck using a makeshift rope made of vine, Ciel decided to follow the wagons on the road. While he kept his distance, not wanting to be seen by any Magescians with bad intentions, he found his eyes continuously drawn to the figures in their caravans. There were so many people, and they were all headed... somewhere. There were even a few bonded Khehora traveling with the more intimidating looking Magescians. Ciel, having never interacted with his own kind before, wanted desperately to charge over and ask them questions, but he knew this wouldn't be a good idea. As a result, he decided to bide his time. He continued to follow the light-colored people--Asarei, he heard someone say--until night finally fell.
This was his chance! He waited until mealtime began. The asarei and Magescians sat amongst each other, and the bonded Khehora had their own area to the side. Checking to make sure no one was looking, he made a mad dash toward the group and managed to squirm his way in between tails and wings to reach the center of their circle. Respectfully ignoring the food, he turned his head up to look at the much larger Khehora. The majority of them were orakoir, and there were one or two who were already orakovan! He gazed at them with admiration even as if they looked down their snouts at him, laughing and snorting at his appearance.
"What's this? A little orakoi? Where are your parents? Or do you belong to a Magescian?"
Unable to speak well enough to convey his thoughts, he was still able to scowl and throw a little tantrum, amusing the other Khehora even more. "You don't belong to a Magescian then? But your parents aren't here, which means..." The eldest amongst them frowned at the implication. While the orakovan here had established strong ties with their specific Magescians and had been treated well, they had also accumulated a great amount of experience with other Magescians. More than enough to understand why a stray orakoi would appear amongst them. The orakoir also quickly realized the situation, gazing with sympathy at the little orakoi.
"You need to find your way back to your tribe. If you're here, then they're likely not too far away. Maybe at Kawyn Ruins," one of the other orakovan spoke up. All of the other Khehora nodded. Kawyn Ruins was considered a holy space. Even the brashest Magescian would think twice before attempting to steal a young orakoi from there. If Ciel could make his way there safely, even if he couldn't find his original tribe, he could still find a group to take him in and protect him. "It's not safe traveling so close to the Asarei. This caravan has multiple Magescians as well."
Ciel nodded, taking the words to heart. However, he wasn't planning on follow them just yet! He needed to figure out this totem!
Wrapping his small claws around the totem, he raised it high enough for the other Khehora to see.
"Oh, a high quality jade dragon totem? Now, where did you find something like that..."
Ciel was quick to wrap his arms tightly around the totem, placing it under his body in case anyone attempted to take it away from him. The watching Khehora laughed at his behavior. "That's all right, little orakoi. Those dragon totems require far too much work to be worth it." Ciel appeared confused again.
"They require dragon souls to awaken," an orakoir spoke up. "Do you know how hard it is to get those?"
Ciel did not, and his obvious ignorance caused another round of laughter amongst the Khehora.
"Well, little orakoi, if you plan to grow that dragon totem of yours, you will have to work very hard. Why don't we give you a hint?"
That was how Ciel found himself perched on top a covered wagon, waiting for the right opportunity to pounce on a poorly hidden pouch that the other Khehora had promised would have 'something good.' Once he nabbed this something good, his next mission was to head to Lake Tyluafel--a body of water not too far from their current location. The other Khehora had mentioned that their bonded Magescians had been talking about a rare herb that could be found there. If he was able to collect enough of these valuable things, then once he was old enough, he could take it to a market to sell. That way, he could slowly began to save up for dragon souls to awaken his totem.
They laughed and told him it would take a very long time, but Ciel was not discouraged by that fact. He was a newly hatched orakoi! He had all the time in the world!
Except for right now. He looked up at the stars in the sky. They had said the herb would be easiest to find in the morning, so he needed to quickly nab this something good before heading toward the lake!
